Concussions are a leading cause of traumatic brain injury. They cause numerous side effects due to physical injury, reduction in blood flow, and in both acute and chronic inflammation in the brain. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) has been proven to be an amazing tool in healing individuals after concussions, whether days or years after the injury.
Symptoms that could indicate post concussion syndrome are brain fog, fatigue, dizziness, headaches, migraines, eye tracking issues, eye strain, reading difficulties, slow processing, neck pain, pain at the base of the skull, changes in sleep, poor memory, anxiety, depression, and irritability.
Many studies show the effectiveness of hyperbaric oxygen therapy for treatment of concussions and the subsequent changes that occur in its aftermath. The brain requires oxygen to make energy for healing, and without it, the brain gets “stuck” in its injured patterns, resulting in symptoms. As the brain receives more oxygen, it is able to heal its injured neuropathways and brain cells that have remained dysfunctional since the initial injury. Reducing neuro-inflammation is a major benefit and can be linked to many of the symptoms that are reduced through HBOT.
